Summary
One of the first economics books I read. Naomi has the ability to talk about such complex and interesting subjects in simplistic language. She talks about the consequences of both unrestricted capitalism and deregulation; and also the economics behind climate change. How neoliberal policies have wreaked havoc on the planet.
Key points
- The erosion of the ‘middle-class’ is a relatively new phenomenon
- The only things the bigger companies care about are economical and not ecological
- Need to try and consume less and buy locally
- Climate is so vague, sophisticated and comprehensive; thus it can produce endless reports without having to commit to the fact
